Sample Answers: Security Proposal for AIS at Woodlands
Introduction
The proposal by American Embassy in Singapore indicates that they aims to develop a new American International School (AIS) in Woodlands. It will be a four storey academic building that will be surrounded by residential and natural elements. This will result into a significant level of internal and external threats and this proposal is aimed at identifying security measures with specific emphasis on physical barriers and surveillance system to ensured safeguard of students and assets.
Security risk assessment
An analysis of the given scenario indicates that there is a medium level security risk to AIS and that’s because of its proximity to public spaces. As a result, there is significant vulnerability to both internal and external threats and there is a need for a proper security approach to deal with it.
Security concept plan
It is important to achieve security across outer, middle and inner layer to completely safeguard the building. For the outer layer, perimeter fencing can be considered as an option whereas the middle layer can be protected using a guard house with 24*7 surveillance, and the inner layer can be protected using internal CCTV, intrusion alarms system etc.
